This is McLaren Vale Shiraz at its finest. From the acclaimed ‘Jones Block’, this wine is well regarded for its generous, yet elegant style. A small parcel was selected from our century old vines for complex fruit flavours and seamless structure. Grapes are hand pruned; wine is aged in fine grained French and American oak. As always, no corners cut. A rich, savoury and spicy blend, this wine has a fleshy middle palate and great length. Enjoyed with food, a glass or three of Paxton is certain to spice up the evening.

Vintage: | 2018 gave us very good winter rainfall allowing the vineyards to reach saturation point. A very dry spring encouraged healthy foliage growth and controlled the vines vigor well. We experienced one of the driest summers in 30 odd years; this meant a great concentration of flavours and intensity of fruit especially within our Mediterranean red varietals. The whites reached fruit ripeness with low acidity therefore producing a very bright and vibrant flavour profile. All and all, a very strong 2018 vintage with fantastic wines. |

Vinification: | Hand picked at optimum sugar and flavour equilibrium, the grapes were kept on skins for 15 days. The ferment was pumped over and plunged twice a day to extract colour, flavour and tannin structure. Once pressed, we used a combination of French and American oak barriques (40% new) for maturation of up to 22 months prior to blending and bottling. This wine was cellared for a further 6 months prior to release. |

This is superbly expressed on the nose showing blackberry, dark plum, cedar, warm spice and subtle cocoa notes, followed by a concentrated palate delivering terrific fruit power and richness. It's wonderfully framed by loads of polished tannins, finishing delectably long and hugely appealing. At its best: 2022 to 2038.
