Our NOW by PAXTON or Natural Organic Wine features No Added Preservatives to our Organic and Biodynamic grapes in a drink NOW style which boasts fresh, bursting fruit flavours, made naturally.
This range of single vineyard wines is a marvellous showcase of regional terroir and soil diversity. These site-specific premium wines capture the pure essence of the fruit that comes from the prized Paxton benchmark blocks; wines of true elegance and sophistication.
An alluring and attractive bunch of wines, showcasing the charm and appeal that comes with being distinctly McLaren Vale. These wines display the region’s natural diversity and varietal expression sourced from several of Paxton’s estate vineyards. They are conspicuously fruit-driven in style, generous in their over-delivery of quality to price, and incredibly delicious to drink.
The climate diversity of McLaren Vale has helped producers successfully embrace Mediterranean varieties in this remarkable wine growing region and has sparked a second coming in new varietal plantings. Paxton, as a leader in viticultural innovation has embraced and refined this revitalising concept for over a decade, being one of the first to plant Tempranillo in the region in 2000.
The rolling vineyards of Jones Block Shiraz never cease to take our breath away. Planted in the 60s, you can find this slice of heaven looking out over the Gulf of St. Vincent and nestled neatly between d'Arenberg and SC Pannell cellar doors 📍

Elizabeth Jean // Matriarch, Mother and Shiraz Lover
EJ was one special lady. In fact, she was so important to her son, David Paxton, that he crafted a limited release Shiraz to commemorate her 100th Birthday!
Now that's love.
With Mothers Day around the corner, it seemed fitting to offer a pre-release of the 2020 EJ to all of our loyal shiraz appreciators 🙂

'Classic McLaren Vale Shiraz characteristics, with an elegant, delicate front exploding with a concentration of savoury fruit, supported by full, silky tannins unique to old vine wine.
An exemplary Shiraz not to be missed!'

We feel so fortunate to have the incredibly talented Kate as a friend and consultant winemaker here at Paxton Wines!
"I created a space where I had space to work on my own terms," she says. "I don't know if that's a luxury or if it's smart." Kate's smile lights up a room.

At Landcross Farm, we have an exceptional vineyard of bush vine Mataro, and we felt it needed its turn to shine. So we expanded the Queen of the Hive range to include the *NEW* Shiraz Mataro blend.
"We can have more fun with it [Mataro]; it doesn't have to be serious as it can often be portrayed." - Ash, Head Winemaker at Paxton
And as much as Ash enjoyed creating it, critics are slurping it up too 😉
Our not-so-serious Mataro Shiraz blend scored 91points from The Real Review as their Minimal Intervention Wine of the Week!
Sitting on the back deck of our cellar door is a whole sensory experience. Singing magpies, rustling She-oaks, and lush nature as far as the eye can see. Ahead is our hilly Landcross Vineyard, where our Mediterranean varietals are grown: Grenache, Mataro and Tempranillo.
For an assault of the senses - book yourself in for a tasting 😉 👆
Meet Milano native Jacapo, 29. His passion for working with Grenache brought him to McLaren Vale for the 2022 season.
No stranger to vintage work, he has been travelling to pursue his love for interesting wine regions for over 8 years now!
He admits it's a solid day's work, but he is drawn to the variety of the days, dynamic movements and intensity of the vintage.
An absolute pleasure to work alongside; we are so grateful to people like Jacapo, who fly in to lend us a hand when we need it most!
We have two pet cattle on our Thomas Block vineyard, a mother and daughter who have been with us for years now. They live the good life, feasting on pats and hay. Technically they don't contribute to our vineyard but we just love having them around!

Preparation 500 – Biodynamic preparation where fresh cow manure is placed into a cow’s horn (a calcium-rich vessel), and then buried over the winter. The manure is transformed into a highly concentrated form of compost.
Diversity – natural environments have a way of protecting themselves: it’s called biological diversity. In our vineyards we encourage natural systems to regulate pests and disease. We cultivate microbes in the soil, plant mid-row pastures and native trees, and keep beehives to create habitats for different species and maintain the diversity.
Compost – made off-site to our own recipe, we apply compost in winter to provide organic carbon, nutrient, and – most importantly – the microbes that promote soil health. The soil’s structure is also improved as its ability to hold water.
Soil Health – healthy soil is the foundation of biodynamic farming, that’s why we reject the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides that damage the soil’s biology.
