What was THE KILLERS’ Ronnie Vannucci and Brandon Flowers’ shout out to Paxton Wines on national TV about? Here’s the scoop! We’ve been working with The Killers’ drummer extraordinaire Ronnie on a JV to bring you a wine that truly celebrates the rhythm of life, Paxton’s BATERISTA!
Baterista, Spanish for drummer, is an Ode to rhythm in both music and In organic and biodynamic wine making. Rhythm is the back bone and heartbeat to both. When the rhythm is right, all else thrives.
Ronnie: “I do love wine, and especially great wines like the ones Paxton produces. They’re unique, and Paxton has an unusual passion for doing things with a real earth centric focus. In short, they care, and it shows. Meeting like-minded people with a passion for crafting something that takes time is attractive to me. It’s a treat to be involved because I know there are others out there, like me, who appreciate this kind of devotion and level of near-magic, and I want it to be available so they can enjoy it, too”
Baterista is a premium single vineyard Shiraz from our beloved 60 year old vines on our Jones Block vineyard, the best two barrels of vintage specially selected by winemaker Ashleigh Seymour for this limited offering.
The new 2019 Baterista is NOW! Click on the LinkTree link in our bio to get to our wine store and secure your bottles of this limited edition wine.
Ronnie Vannucci and Paxton Wines are very proud of the Baterista and feel that consumers will agree: it's an exceptional example of a premium single vineyard, hand crafted Shiraz from McLaren Vale, and shows great depth and complexity and the true purity of fruit and vitality in organic, biodynamic wine making.
Footage from Channel 9’s Today Show, Thursday 27th July, Ronnie and Brandon interviewed by Brooke Boney. Live footage from The Killers Live at Glastonbury.

Paxton’s Shiraz wines are part of the reason why McLaren Vale Shiraz enjoys a glowing reputation, both here and internationally, for quality, and for its unique modern style.
In our biodynamic and organic vineyards, Paxton’s Shiraz vines – some over 146 years old – grow happily in the Vale’s enviable temperate climate which, when combined with our biodynamically prepared soils, means gorgeous fruit year after year, which we carefully harvest and lovingly nurture to become our famous range of single vineyard, multi-vineyard, and Shiraz blend wines.

Pooches at Paxton! Jackson and Amy from Brisbane were visiting McLaren Vale wineries… but only chose wineries that are pet friendly, because as devoted ‘pet parents' to their beloved Golden Retriever, Jari, ‘he goes where we go!’
After sampling Paxton Wines – and a nice cool drink of water for Jari – they enjoyed the view with a glass or two and a platter of cheeses and other tasty local produce, and departed as newly minted Members of the Paxton Social Wine Club community, where they will enjoy discounts on future wine purchases plus access to other exclusive Member benefits and offers.
Remember, we always welcome your pampered pooches to Paxton… but be sure they’re on a leash!

The sheer beauty of Paxton’s organic, biodynamic McLaren Vale vineyards on a misty winter’s morning is just breathtaking. It’s like walking, a glass of fine red wine in hand, through an art gallery filled with paintings by the 19th century English master Turner.
Some of nature’s most stunning vistas are indeed reserved for winter. Poet Susan Bates might have said it best: ‘Jack Frost paints wondrous pictures with his palette of frozen dew / Then stands back when his work is done and proudly admires the view’.
Whatever the season, McLaren Vale never disappoints!

Preparation 500 – Biodynamic preparation where fresh cow manure is placed into a cow’s horn (a calcium-rich vessel), and then buried over the winter. The manure is transformed into a highly concentrated form of compost.
Diversity – natural environments have a way of protecting themselves: it’s called biological diversity. In our vineyards we encourage natural systems to regulate pests and disease. We cultivate microbes in the soil, plant mid-row pastures and native trees, and keep beehives to create habitats for different species and maintain the diversity.
Compost – made off-site to our own recipe, we apply compost in winter to provide organic carbon, nutrient, and – most importantly – the microbes that promote soil health. The soil’s structure is also improved as its ability to hold water.
Soil Health – healthy soil is the foundation of biodynamic farming, that’s why we reject the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides that damage the soil’s biology.
